A Journey Through History Along the Delaware River
Travel from Yardley to Bristol while exploring the people, communities, and waterways connected to the Delaware Canal and Delaware River.
Begin with a guided visit to Gather Place and learn about Yardley’s Quaker heritage, historic African American community, Underground Railroad activity, abolitionist history, and the African Methodist Episcopal Church of Yardley.
Weather permitting, guests may participate in an optional 45-minute walk along the Delaware Canal to historic Lock No. 5. The route includes clay and dirt terrain. A prerecorded video is available for those who prefer not to walk.
The journey continues to Bristol’s historic waterfront and Basin Park, where guests will visit the Harriet Tubman statue and learn about her extraordinary life, legacy, and Pennsylvania connections.
